Tiny Home ordinance changed again

The Ashburn City Council again changed the Tiny Home Village ordinance.

This change took the home size from 750 square feet or smaller to 799 square feet or smaller.

Councilman Jonathan Perry asked why.

Councilman John Burgess said the City’s current zoning ordinances say a regular home is at least 800 square feet. Going to 799 feet or less closes a gap in the code, he said.

Mr. Perry also said the latest version of the ordinance, prior to the July change, did not have the 10-foot property line setback on all sides. The Council voted that in at the June meeting. Mr. Perry said it was probably just an oversight.

A bit later in the meeting, Ben Walker asked why the City does not allow single-wide trailers in the City. Such houses are allowed, they just have to be in a trailer park.
