Bus drivers get raises

In the new School System budget, some bus drivers are getting a raise. No driver will lose money under the new pay scales.

“We are going to $18 an hour. It is a much cleaner pay scale,” said Finance Director Liz Walker. “There is no question what a route is.”

The new pay scale will see drivers paid a set number of hours a day, regardless of how long they are on a bus.

Some bus drivers, with the school system for a while now, opted to stay with the old pay scale. Ms. Walker said they will not lose any money.
